University of Warwick (B: Medical School research indicates [that])
high-heels may help (women avoid knee problems). High-heels do not lead
arthritis in the knees, (D: overweight does).

So (E: what else is new)? Digital radio. It's here now, (F: CD-quality)
from a radio. The biggest advance in broadcasting since FM. Digital
radio (receivers go on sale today). On digital radio, Paul Harvey is
going to sound like, ..., like, like (laughter), Paul Harvey Jr.

＜補足＞
最初のトピックは女性のハイヒールがひざ関節炎の原因なのではなく、太りすぎ
が悪いのだとするウォーウィック大学・医学部の研究結果は逆説的で意外ですね。

二番目のトピックは、日本ではもうすぐのようですが、アメリカで一足先に始ま
ったデジタル・ラジオ放送の話です。

を題材として取り上げます。なお、聴き取りに自信のある方は、課題文を読む前

As Iraq continues (A), coalition officials say the (B) there will move
from 'occupation force' to 'invited guests.'

At a press briefing Wednesday, senior coalition spokesman, Dan Senor,
said Iraqi (C) will soon take over (D), with the Americans (E).

face, uh, with their fellow citizens and the Americans there, as I said,
just as reinforcers.

Uh, we believe the Iraqis, certainly from a language standpoint, have

these nuances that help certainly in intelligence-gathering. They have
a better sense for who is a foreign fighter and who is a domestic
