Personal, our ABC Network offices are pretty much closed today
as I am told, our many, if not most, businesses.

I do not recall any years previous, one of 4th of July holiday has
stretched to four days maybe because work is more exciting to me
than firecrackers.

I do hope time-off means more family time

I have to try to explain our nation's unemployment stats.

And it does not compute. Unemployment in June is unchanged.
That's what they say.

The unemployment held steady at 5.6 percent for the 3rd straight
month. But that same month employers are adding 112,000 new jobs
to our payrolls, the 10th straight month of increase in hiring.

The way our nation's working age population keeps increasing,
American industries had decreased a 112,000 new jobs last month

just to keep up with a 5.6 percent population increase.

Today's Wall Street Journal surveyed 55 economists and they
anticipated our economy remaining strong for as far ahead as they
can see, certainly through 2005.

◆ 4. Bush and other leaders in Turkey (3'08" - 3'40")

Now this can be told.

Last week, before President Bush and other world leaders arrived in Turkey.
Turkish police found explosives in a parking garage at Istanbul Airport.

At the same time, two explosions overnight in Baghdad. Now that sounds like the way
things were before the new government except last night the noise makers must be
amateurs because both rockets left their own car-mounted launchers inoperable.

They kind of blew themselves up. They did little damage otherwise.

Did Saddam Hussein have weapons of mass destruction?
Polish troops right now in Iraq have found artillery shells, I mean, usable artillery shells
which definitely, and I am quoting, which definitely contain cyclosarin.
